Forest Hills: The Last Year Gaining Unexpected Troma Crossover
Forest Hills: The Last Year, due out this summer, is an asymmetrical survival horror game — you know the type, one player is assigned the role of a deadly monster or killer and the other players are given the task of escaping, or staying out of their way for a certain period of time. Dead By Daylight is the most famous example of this.
The creators of Forest Hills, the Canadian studio Undaunted Games, have announced a rather unusual development for their title: they’ve entered a partnership with Troma. Yes, that Troma, the Schlock Kings, the makers of the trashiest films imaginable (and they’re proud of it). They’ve gained approval from Lloyd Kaufman himself to stick some of the Troma characters into this game.
“Toxie and I could not be more excited to be partnering with Undaunted Games as they expand the fan-favorite Last Year universe with Forest Hill: The Last Year,” Kaufman said in a statement (“Toxie” refers to The Toxic Avenger, who will appear in the game). “Undaunted Games embodies the commitment to independent art and renegade spirit that’s been Troma’s Passion and smoked meat for half a century. We can’t wait to see what kind of poutine this young (but mighty) company makes with Toxie and his friends. Alors, let’s play!”
Undaunted Games says they’re working on landing other crossovers, though Dead By Daylight has a lock on the biggest ones (they don’t have Troma though). They revealed their latest map and killer at PAX East last weekend; the Cemetery and the Warlock respectively. The Warlock can sling shadow and flame attacks to destroy those in their path. Toxie isn’t ready to be revealed yet.
Forest Hills: The Last Year will be released this summer on Steam.
