Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, A sequel decades in the making
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is the long-awaited sequel to the Fatal Fury series. Fans of the Fatal Fury franchise waited for a sequel to Garou: Mark of the Wolves for 25 years. Fans thought there would never be a sequel because a handful of Fatal Fury and Garou characters are on the roster of King of Fighters. Here’s the thing, though: The King of Fighters is set in an alternate universe. Fatal Fury characters are from the 90s, yet they get to meet Art of Fighting characters who are from the 1970s, and Samurai Shodown characters are from the 19th century. Originally, it was a crossover of SNK games, but it doesn’t look like it anymore since multiple sequels of KOF introduced more original characters over crossovers.
The new trailer introduced the first batch of characters. Main characters Rock Howard and Terry Bogard, together with returning faces like Hotaro Futaba and Tizoc. (Note: In the latest KOF games, Tizoc uses a different mask now and goes by the identity King of Dinosaurs, so his appearance in this game is his return to his classic form)
This is the first game in Fatal Fury Franchise to have an English cast voice actors as an option. Most SNK games uses Japanese voice actors for all characters.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves official Trailer
The first new face revealed in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is Preecha. She is a female Muay Thai fighter from Thailand. She seems to be an apprentice of Joe Higashi, but her move set is not a bit different from his. It may ruin Joe’s chances of coming back, though. The Garou: Mark of the Wolves story ends with a cliffhanger, so after 25 years, we will finally have the continuation. The Fatal Fury franchise will finally move forward after being in a King of Fighters limbo. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be release on the 1st quarter of 2025.
